Cache Pt. 2

by Arkii

Cache 04:40
The Ladder 05:23
Haven 02:20

An unfolding is the only way I could describe it. Huge clouds resembling armies on a battlefield crashing into each other. And the canopy - almost as if it has a life of its own - was pulsing. The entire woods were like a scene out of a carnival. And that's when I saw him. Among the trees. The man who, in place of his feet, had long roots growing into the earth. Being on top of the hill gave me a very good view, also he wasn't really hard to miss. It was cold outside, so I grabbed my jacket and started walking.

"The winds are really strong here" he said. He is right, I thought. "Gets worse at night....but I'm fine. My roots keep me grounded".

I wake up to the sight of neon flowers blooming in the distance. The city is awake, still. I check my watch - six hours had passed. By instinct, my eyes dart to that place in the woods, but it is too dark to see anything. And it is cold outside but that does not matter anymore, as I start walking.
